A Twin Zygosity Test determines if twins are identical or not. The test is often performed for medical purposes, for example to assess whether one twin can donate an organ to the other twin requiring a transplant. More often though, twins (or their parents) request the test out of curiosity to confirm with certainty whether or not they are genetically identical.

Synergene supplies a free sample collection kit that employs a simple and painless procedure, using a mouth swab to wipe off a specimen of saliva and cheek cells from a subject's mouth. The collected specimens are deposited in specially supplied packets that are then mailed to our lab.

At Synergene, the samples are analysed with our state-of-the-art genetic identification system using 16 different genetic markers. The results guarantee minimum probabilities in excess of 99.99%. Results are available within 5-7 working days after arrival of the samples at Synergene.

A Twin Zygosity Test from Synergene costs €175. The cost for additional siblings (for triplets, quadruplets, etc.) is €125 per person. Payments are accepted by credit card or direct bank transfer.
