A DNA profile allows the unique identification of a person. It may also be used as a basis for the identification of the person's biological relations. Once a person's DNA profile is generated it is normally placed in safe storage for possible future use, often in conjunction with the person's will. Applications of the profile include identification of rightful heirs, through DNA relationship testing based on the person's DNA profile, or identification of the person's remains, for example in cases of accidental death, kidnapping, etc.

Synergene supplies a free sample collection kit that employs a simple and painless procedure, using a mouth swab to wipe off a specimen of saliva and cheek cells from the subject's mouth. The collected specimen is deposited in a specially supplied packet that is then mailed to our lab.

We strongly encourage the client to authenticate the DNA Profile through the use of a third party witness during the sampling phase. Such validation will ensure that the chain of custody is complete, and will facilitate the use of the results in a potential Court case or other legal requirements.

At Synergene, the specimen is analysed with our state-of-the-art genetic identification system using 16 different genetic markers. The results are highly accurate and reliable, and are identical to those used in Forensic applications for identification purposes. Results are available within 7 to 10 working days after arrival of the samples at our laboratory.

We will send you a report detailing your unique 16 marker profile. It is recommended that the results are notarized and stored in a secure location or deposited with your legal advisor.

Synergene will submit a copy of the results to the sampler or the person submitting the test. Additional copies of the report may be requested at any time for an additional fee. We will allow access to the DNA profiling report ONLY to the authorized persons listed in the Report Distribution Sheet of our Submission Form.

A DNA Profile from Synergene costs €225 for a one-person test and €375 for a two-person test. The cost for additional profiles is €150 per person. Payments are accepted by credit card or direct bank transfer.
